ANYBODY CAN HAVE SAFETY EQUIPMENT: THIS INCLUDES HARNESSES AND HELMETS.
For the purpose of checking out gear, we divide all climbers into three categories:
Novice: (must have Advanced Climber supervision to check out climbing equipment)
Intermediate: (can check out Top Rope gear without supervision)
Advanced Climber: (can check out Lead Climbing or Trad gear)
Novice: (must have Advanced Climber supervision to check out climbing equipment)
- UCMC Member in Good Standing
- Minimum Experience
- Demonstrate Ability to Properly Tie Knots Needed for Climbing.
- Deomonstrate Ability to Properly Wear Seat Harness
- Must Climb With "Advanced Climber" on 1:1 ratio
- Participate in Official Course of Another Established Organization
Intermediate: (can check out Top Rope gear without supervision)
- UCMC Member in Good Standing
- Demonstrated Novice Skill
- Graduate of UCMC Beginners Climbing Course or Equivalent
Advanced Climber: (can check out Lead Climbing or Trad gear)
- UCMC Member in Good Standing
- Demonstrated Intermediate Skills
- Demonstrated Lead Climbing Ability
- Demonstrated Trip Organization and Support Ability
- Responsible to Communicate with Gear Manager on Outgoing Trip Lists
